Organisation:

Name: Louisa
Hometown: Sherborne
Destination: Tanzania, Mozambique, Botswana, Swaziland & South Africa
Project type: Building Project and Explorer
Organisation: Quest Overseas
What were your impressions of your destination?
They were all incredible. The most beautiful of destinations. Tanzania was a definite favourite as we spent 6 weeks there, really got to know the community, such nice people.
Was the work interesting and challenging?
The building work was challenging but so rewarding, not to mention such fun, a real laugh! Quest Overseas is one of the few organisations that runs projects that are actually worth doing and you feel as if you are really making a difference, and you are. We could see how work we had done was going to benefit the community.
The activities we did were so cool. Diving, trekking, safaris, safaris on dug-out canoes in the delta in Botswana, bungy jumping off Victoria falls, endless incredible experiences. Not to mention some great nights out!
What was your accommodation like? Did you feel comfortable and welcome at all times?
Always felt welcome and comfortable, even in tents, which I did not thing was possible before Quest! Hostels we stayed in were great and the house we lived in for the building project was perfect. All very comfortable.
Were you happy with the organisation and the staff that were responsible for you during your stay?
The organisation and staff were amazing. Pre-departure they were so helpful, even with endless small questions being asked! While we were out there the staff were incredible. Always help, giving good advice, but just as much part of the group as any of the volunteers. They were such good fun.
Do you feel that you got value for money on the project?
Yes definitely. I have travelled without an organisatoin as well, and I found on my own I spent a lot more money doing much less than I did with Quest. We fitted so much into the three months, it was great value for money.
Would you recommend the project to others?
Yes
