Name: Brian
Hometown: New York City
Destination: Cambodia
Project type: Teaching English and a Clean Water Project with Trailblazer Foundation via Globalteer
Organisation: Globalteer
What were your impressions of your destination?
Cambodia is a wonderful place. The people there are some of the kindest I've met in the world. Working as a volunteer enables you to get off the tourist trail and see the actual country and the beauty therein.
Was the work interesting and challenging?
The work was always challenging, never mundane. Teaching was difficult at times, but one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had.
What was your accommodation like? Did you feel comfortable and welcome at all times?
Accommodation was very comfortable.
Were you happy with the organisation and the staff that were responsible for you during your stay?
Staff was supreme. Always aware of the latest doings and happenings. Always looking for new projects in which to help the community.
Do you feel that you got value for money on the project?
I've been around the world and have experienced a few of these sort of ''Volun-tourism''organisations. I must say that Globalteer is the best I've found. Many larger organisations overcharge and keep the money for themselves, and they are simply too big to bother getting into the field and really work alongside the projects. The staff of Globalteer is more concerned with the work and the service given, and they don't view each projects as money-making tourist destinations. (AND it's cheaper)
Would you recommend the project to others?
Yes
