Jan worked in Japan with Real Gap

Experience:starOrganisation:star

Name: Jan

Destination: Japan

Project type: No work

Organisation: Real Gap

What were your impressions of your destination?

They did not give an induction like they promised, in fact they didn't help me at all when I arrived there.

Was the work interesting and challenging?

There was only a few bar jobs and part time cafe jobs which paid low wages, Real Gap did not arrange any jobs as an English teacher or anything like that.

What was your accommodation like? Did you feel comfortable and welcome at all times?

No not at all, I was in a basement dorm in Sendagaya. It was smelly, dirty and messy, very cramped with nowhere to put your stuff, it was awful and messy it was a surprise I didn't vomit.

Were you happy with the organisation and the staff that were responsible for you during your stay?

Not happy at all, they were difficult to contact while I was in the UK, I got absolutely no help whatsoever while I was a few thousand miles away.

Do you feel that you got value for money on the project?

Over £3000 for the whole trip, I only stayed for a month, they offered me only £100, and they said "you should have contacted us while you were over there".

Would you recommend the project to others?

No
