What were your impressions of your destination?
Mongolia is a place where you can only really go there to actually know what it is like! I had done some research on Mongolia, and the city I was planning to stay in (Ulaanbaator) but when I got there it was completely different. I absolutely loved it though and cannot wait to go back!
Was the work interesting and challenging?
I had never really experienced teaching before so it was very interesting for me, and teaching in a completely different culture definitely makes it a lot more challenging. However it was so much fun and a brilliant way to experience and make friends.
What was your accommodation like? Did you feel comfortable and welcome at all times?
My host family was brilliant! I have absolutely no bad things to say about them! They looked after me wonderfully, I was always welcome. The first thing my host mother said was that she could not wait to have me as a daughter. I had a lovely brother as well who welcomed me into the family. My younger Mongolian sister out there was like my best friend! I could not have asked for a better family.
Were you happy with the organisation and the staff that were responsible for you during your stay?
There was a little hitch on the project, as I was supposed to have a weeks' travelling in the countryside and the Mongolian representative did not know about this, but I was very pleased that it got sorted out quickly. I would recommend other people just to check with the Mongolian representative when you get there just in case. However, they sorted my Visa and helped whenever I needed it. Also in England before my trip they were extremely helpful.
Do you feel that you got value for money on the project?
I would have liked maybe a few more weekend trips to either the countryside or interesting museums organised by them, as I travelled on my own I did not really know where to go. I do think it was quite expensive for what I actually got, but it is the only way people like me can travel and do things like that, so I am very grateful.
Would you recommend the project to others?
Yes
