Name: Kate

Hometown: Surrey

Destination: Ecuador

Project type: Teaching English and working in an orphanage

Organisation: Gap Activity Projects (now called Lattitude)

What were your impressions of your destination?

A beautiful country, friendly people. The most wonderful place on earth!

Was the work interesting and challenging?

I loved teaching even though it was challenging as I felt I was really making a difference, as it was a poor school. And working in the orphanage was demanding but I loved each one of the children, and was heartbroken when I had to leave!

What was your accommodation like? Did you feel comfortable and welcome at all times?

I stayed with a family (organised by my gap year company) and they took me in and treated me just like family. I really got on amazingly and I know I will go back to see them as they feel like family to me now.

Were you happy with the organisation and the staff that were responsible for you during your stay?

Yes, 100%. They were organised and I felt safe and that the company knew what they were doing.

Do you feel that you got value for money on the project?

Definitely as the company is a charity so cost a lot less than other companies, and all my food and accommodation was included.

Would you recommend the project to others?

Yes
