Name: Joelle
Hometown: Manchester
Destination: Cambodia
Project type: Teaching and Community Work
Organisation: The Leap
What were your impressions of your destination?
I'd never been to Asia before so didn't know what to expect but Cambodia was amazing, it's very vibrant and definitely has a certain charm about it!
Was the work interesting and challenging?
The work was varied - we were on a 6 week program and did a number of placements from working for a water charity to teaching English to helping build a well. It was great because we got to do lots of different things.
What was your accommodation like? Did you feel comfortable and welcome at all times?
The accommodation was better than I thought it was going to be - I had ideas of it all being very basic with no running water etc but everywhere we stayed was great and the families we lived with were very welcoming.
Were you happy with the organisation and the staff that were responsible for you during your stay?
The whole team at the Leap (both in the UK and our host in Cambodia) could not do more for us, they were so helpful and lovely - I could not recommend them more!
Do you feel that you got value for money on the project?
Although it is more expensive than other projects I do think it's worth it, we met people with other organisations who did not have a good experience.
Would you recommend the project to others?
Yes
